EXCLUSION OF WITNESSES Rule 615
Susanna and the Elders, The Bible, KJV.
Joacim (J) had a wife and a daughter that feared god, and he had a garden, he was wealthy. Two elder judges were appointed and they kept their stuff at J’s house.
The elderss took a liking to the wife, when J wasn’t home. She didn’t know they were there, so she went skinny dipping in the garden, while they peeped. She asked for soap from her maid, and that the maid shut the garden doors for privacy. The judges then ran to her and asked her if she would have sex with them, but if she refused. The elders threatened that they would say that the reason she wanted the doors shut was because she had another fella there who she was fornacating with. Realizing her peril, she refused their offer, knowing it would be bad either way.
The judges called for her to trial to put her to death. (evil bastards from Babylon, no wonder). The judges said she was having sex with this younger dude, who they could not capture. They stated that she would not say who the fella was. The sheep, err, I mean people, condemned her to death. She cried out to god to show the elders as false witnesses and to spare her life.
The Lord was listening. When she was to be put to death, the Lord raised up the holy spirit of a young youth, whose name is Daniel; who cried with a loud voice, “I am clear from the blood of this woman.”. The sheep, err, I mean people, were confused by this. Daniel called the people sheep, and said the judges were lying.
The people awakened from their slumber, of acquiescence to authority, to question the elders. Daniel excluded each elder from hearing testimony of the other. They had very conflicting statements as to under which tree this alleged fornication took place. The people, realizing the injustice, raised up against the elders. Daniel convicted them of false witness and according to the law of Moses they did unto them in such sort as they maliciously intended to do to their neighbour: they put him to death. The people liked Daniel after that. :)
